Perfect St. Patrick's Day Breakfast

Chicago is a city known for its sites, sounds, and colorful characters, but there is no day which exemplifies these traits better than St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a well known fact that Chicago does St. Patrick’s Day best, illustrated through its grandiose parade, festive citizens, and brilliant highlighter green river, but a hidden gem within Chicago’s bountiful celebration is the various breakfast spots which cater to the St. Patrick’s Day crowd.  The spot I discovered is Goddess And The Baker on North LaSalle street, and I was quite frankly, blown away. Picture this: A mob of rowdy Chicagoans who have been awake since 7am, all desiring to be fed and caffeinated, while a line winds all the way around the restaurant to the point that it’s nearly out the door. Sounds pretty awful, huh? But that was the magic of Goddess And The Baker, as they somehow managed to satisfy every customer by providing quality food and drinks at a manageable price and quick pace, causing all of the expected annoyances from a Chicago St. Patrick’s Day to melt away. For my meal, I ordered the morning sandwich which consisted of scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, avocado, and tomatillo sauce all on sesame semolina costing $7.99. I was incredibly satisfied by the sandwich as it was affordable, delicious, and provided me with the necessary fuel required to celebrate the holiday. Overall, I’d say that Goddess And The Baker is an ideal spot to escape the hectic nature of St. Patrick’s Day, as well as a haven of great food and good ambiance every other day of the year.
