If you haven't been to Nini’s Deli, this is one place to hit up all summer long. Before I start to ramble about how tasty this food place is, let me just backtrack a bit to the first time I ever stepped foot into this place.
On February 11th, 2017, Nini’s Deli did a collaboration with a consignment store called Notre (a shoe and high end clothing retailer) with a shoe release. This shoe is still so popular now but not as it was back in the day when it was first introduced to the sneaker community. The shoe I'm talking about is called the Yeezy Bred V2, which was designed by the famous singer Kanye West. This shoe was in such high demand because this V2 line of Yeezy’s was the most popular and hype shoe that everyone wanted, so if you got a pair, you were either going to have it as a collectable or resell to make money. It was all about supply and demand with Yeezys. I remember waiting in line for 20 hours just to get my pair and I was one of those people who ended up selling them.
So back to my story, the owner, Juan-Elias Riesco, decided to hold this release at his own restaurant so it can spread awareness and associate himself with the sneaker community. This in my opinion was the biggest way to catch the attention in Chicago, solely because Chicago has the biggest sneaker community in all of the US. This collaboration, I can say, is what helped Juan get his restaurant to wear it is today. Many people who come in love the food, they love the vibes he shares with other customers, and you will never not see a smile on his face. He always personally hand gives you your food and makes sure you're satisfied.
Overall, this place is the place to be all 2019. You will not be disappointed with this place whatsoever. If you plan on trying it for the first time, make sure to tell Juan that “K-Dog” sent you.
